Descriptions:
The Radaiantech UFO series is a compact, cost-effective, plug-and-play Optical Time-domain Reflectometer(OTDR) unit, designed for full-range fiber fault detection. It is ideal foroptical fiber installation, maintenance, field construction, and other on-site fault-locationanalysis. As a USB peripheral, UFO is the best choice of OTDR to integrate with remoteoptical monitoring systems. The OTDR unit is designed as a green PC peripheralcompatible with Windows 98, 2000 or above. The application program (AP) sends OTDRcommand from the computer to the unit and gets data back through USB connection. TheUSB OTDR gets power from the USB port and an internal rechargeable Li-ion battery.
The OTDR unit injects the laser pulse into the fiber under test and picks up scattered and reflected optical signals by anavalanche photodiode (APD). The unit also controls all related timing and data acquisition processes.
The AP consists of three windows. The Event Handling window (default) allows for parameter setting, measurement datastorage and event analysis processing. The Event Mapping window provides mapping of a measured trace to a predefinedlandmark table, and subsequently the actual fault location can be shown. The Meter window provides laser light source andlight detection functions.
